Namibian peacekeeper dies

A POLICE officer who was deployed with the United Nations peacekeeping mission in Liberia has died.

Police Inspector General Sebastian Ndeitunga confirmed that Cathleen Ndeupe Mbako collapsed and died on Monday evening.

“It is with great sadness that we confirm the loss of one of our own. We are waiting for the United Nations to write a formal report as to what happened and what the cause of her death was,” Ndeitunga said.

Mbako left for Liberia last year and was expected to return to Namibia this week.
